The City of Ventura is hiring! The City of Ventura’s Water Department is looking for a Plant Operator Grade I/II/III/IV to join our award-winning Water Treatment team! The Plant Operator Grade I/II/III/IV works under general supervision and is responsible for operating and maintaining water treatment plant facilities on an assigned shift. This position performs routine to complex maintenance work in the upkeep of plant equipment and facilities.

Positions are flexibly staffed, and progression from one level to another is based upon the incumbent's acquisition of the appropriate Plant Operator certifications.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

A combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high school or its equivalent and education and experience commensurate with each grade level of certification as required by the state, which includes some course work in area of assignment.

License

• Possession of a valid California Class C driver license upon employment.  

Certificates 

• Water:  Possession of a Grade I, II, III, or IV Water Treatment Operator certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board.  Grade II Operators will be required to obtain the Grade III certificate within a 24-month period.

Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to climb ladders, use power tools and equipment. 

Required to pass annual physical examination related to upper respiratory system, wear breathing apparatus and other safety equipment.

The City offers a compensation package that includes both a generous salary and excellent benefits!

Salary:

• SALARY: $31.48 - $46.25 Hourly DOQ
